NV4500 Identification

With the custom output shaft from Forbyn Brothers nearly here I have turned my attention to the transmission and transfercase. I am using a NV4500, with a Chevy aluminum bell housing, a custom adapter kit from Forbyn Brothers, and a Land Rover B suffix transfercase.

I have been told that the Cummins 6AT I have was removed from a UPS truck. The Chevy bell housing allows the transmission to bolt up very nicely into the engine.

I am told the new venture 4500 I am using is a Chevy 2 Wheel drive unit. The date of manufactur is unknown. The data sticker on the top cover has been painted over and ruined.

Using Advanced Adapters NV4500 identification booklet I will make a positive I.D. when I open up the transmission to install the custom output shaft. For now I know it has a 10 spline input shaft and a 35 spline output. I got rid of the tail housing years ago and did not measure it.

This is the custom shaft from Forbyn Brothers. It was designed by Timm Cooper. It started life as a Dodge output shaft. It has been remachined so the output splines match the Land Rover transfercase. I am using a B suffix case and gears but and series transfercase will work.

To be clear I do not sell any parts. I am documenting how I am building my Land Rover project. If you are simply wanting to convert your Suburban from automatic to manual the I would suggest contacting Advanced Adapters http://www.advanceadapters.com/ and follow their recommendation.
